Our philosophy
Villa Magalean is a large Basque-style villa built in the 1950s and renovated by passionate owners helped by architects and interior decorators. The work was done with the objective to offer to our guests the best of Spanish, French, and European hospitality.
This intimate boutique hotel provides ultimate personalised service to make your stay memorable, a luxurious sort of pampering. The experienced, professional hotel team is trained to meet the demands of guests and provide the best of two worlds: the comfort of home and the services of a great hotel. A discreet luxury.
Responsible management and service excellence
Our name is inspired by “magal” in Euskara—lap, shelter. That’s the spirit of the house: the warmth of a grand family home, refined amenities, service excellence, well-being, and comfort. Our team, trained in high-end hospitality, ensures discreet, attentive support, driven by a culture of commitment, coordination, and responsibility.
A distinctive experience and continuous innovation
We continuously evolve our services and processes to uphold a high standard. Thoughtful innovations, new touches, and tailor-made experiences rooted in our territory—our aim is to delight you with finesse, without ever losing the authenticity of the place.
Technology that serves your stay
Our digital tools are there to simplify your experience: smooth communication, lighter formalities, and enhanced service quality. All within an ethical and secure framework that prioritizes data protection and operational efficiency.
Well-being, accessibility, and inclusive hospitality
Well-being is the center of our attention. We cultivate respectful, personalized hospitality and progressively enhance our facilities to offer a comfortable, inclusive experience that considers a diversity of needs.
Environmental, social, and territorial sustainability
From the very beginning, Villa Magalean has been committed to the environment:
• Restored traditional materials and rock-wool insulation.
• Solar energy for hot water production, optimized waste management, and responsible linen usage.
• Cleaning methods that limit harsh products (dry steam, air purifiers), striking the right balance between comfort and safety.
• A responsible purchasing policy to reduce food waste, supporting local producers and community life.
• Low-impact mobility: an electric vehicle for the hotel, a charging station, and bicycles available to guests.
Finally, we proudly showcase Hondarribia and the Basque Country: a protected natural setting between Mount Jaizkibel, the Peñas de Aya range, and the Bay of Txingudi, and a vibrant cultural life where history, art, music, and gastronomy meet—tradition and modernity for an intensely Basque experience.
